Nish Chari is a Brooklyn-based sitar player, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. A disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan of the renowned Etawah/Imdadkhani tradition, Nish imbues his playing with the emotion, improvisational prowess, and virtuosic technique that has been handed down in this tradition for over 250 years. For this performance, he will be presenting a unique improvisational performance within the framework of Indian classical and folk compositions in various time signatures and tempos.

The performance will feature percussion accompaniment by tabla player Vishwa Subick, a disciple of Pandit Anindo Chatterjee of the Farukhabad tradition (which dates back to the 11th century in India).

We are offering several ticket options. We strive to keep our audiences diverse and appreciate whatever extra contribution attendees with greater financial means can afford to support these experiences. Higher priced ticket options do not come with any added incentives other than knowing your generous offering goes a long way to supporting Lightning Society, and our artists.
